Indy Lights Presented by Cooper Tires Preview: Indy Lights Grand Prix of Monterey (Entry List) – Race 1 Saturday, September 10, 2022 3:20PM (ET) Peacock & Race 2 Sunday, September 11, 2022 12:55PM (ET) Peacock – Linus Lundqvist will win the championship this weekend simply by showing up but there should be plenty of competitiveness through the field this weekend as the Andretti Autosport team and Lundqvist’s teammate Benjamin Pedersen have stepped up over the second half of the season. Nolan Siegel makes his series debut this weekend with HMD Motorsports while Flinn Lazier will hope his races last much longer than a lap after contact ended his day early on his debut at Portland. The battle to watch this weekend will be for second place as the championship as positions 2 through 5 right are tight heading into the weekend as Matthew Brabham leads Hunter McElrea, Sting Ray Robb, and Benjamin Pedersen.

NTT INDYCAR SERIES Preview: Firestone Grand Prix of Monterey – Sunday, September 11, 2022 2:40PM (ET) NBC – What appeared to be one of the greatest NTT INDYCAR SERIES championship battles of all time concludes this weekend with perhaps not as much pre-event drama after Will Power’s strong close to the season. However, there are still five drivers heading into the weekend with a mathematical chance at the title as Power leads Josef Newgarden (-20), Scott Dixon (-20), Marcus Ericsson (-39), and Scott McLaughlin (-41). Power needs only to finish the Top 3 to control his own destiny in clinching the championship.

Previous driver performance at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca shows just two former winners entered this weekend in Colton Herta (2019 & 2021) and Helio Castroneves (2000). Looking at the box scores from 2021 and 2019, only Herta finished in the Top 10 of both races. Herta won each race from pole. The Top 5 in qualifying last year was represented by Andretti Autosport (x2), Team Penske, Chip Ganassi Racing, and Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing so expect a multitude of teams to be competitive as always. Of the entered drivers, the Top 5 in laps led at the circuit are Herta 174, Castroneves 92, Power 6, Grosjean 4, and Dixon 2.

My picks to win: Race – Colton Herta & Championship – Will Power – Herta has absolutely dominated the two most recent events so I’m considering this a near lock until proven otherwise. If he steals the pole and race winner points, it really makes things tough on the rest of the field to surpass Power if he runs into trouble. Power has been so strong lately that I expect him to qualify up front as he usually does and keep himself clean for a podium finish to seal the title.

My fantasy.indycar.com picks: Will Power $30, Colton Herta $29, David Malukas $20, & Christian Lundgaard $20  – You know my thoughts on Power and Herta. The rookie of the year battle between Malukas and Lundgaard should be a fascinating battle and each of the duo has been super fast lately. They’re excellent value picks this weekend to go with whatever star power you want from the bigger teams.

Indy Lights Presented by Cooper Tires Preview: Indy Lights at Iowa Speedway (Entry List) – Saturday, July 23, 2022 12:15PM (ET) Peacock – Indy Lights heads to Iowa Speedway for their first oval race weekend of the season. Linus Lundqvist continues to hold a big lead in the championship that seems inevitable at this point. But there has been a lot more parity in recent events and an oval event should exacerbate that situation even more. David Malukas won the only two Lights races of the season last year at WWT Raceway so expect the HMD/GRG teams to be strong as always but Andretti Autosport and Kyle Kirkwood finished second in both races so the Andretti team will be right there too. I genuinely have no idea what to expect this weekend let’s just hope it’s as good of a race as it appears it should be.

NTT INDYCAR SERIES Preview: Hy-Vee INDYCAR Race Weekend – HyVeeDeals.com 250 presented by DoorDash on Saturday, July 23, 2022 4:00PM (ET) NBC & Hy-Vee Salute to Farmers 300 presented by Google on Sunday, July 24, 2022 3:00PM (ET) NBC – The NTT INDYCAR SERIES returns to the Iowa Speedway bullring for after a year off in 2021 for what should be an exciting doubleheader weekend with the excitement of new partners promoting the event and all they’re bringing with them. The pre-race and post-race concerts this weekend feature a lineup any music festival would strive for in Tim McGraw, Florida Georgia Line, Gwen Stefani, and Blake Shelton. The championship battle remains tight with the top 5 drivers of Marcus Ericsson, Will Power, Alex Palou, Josef Newgarden, and Scott Dixon separated by just 44 points and others not far behind.

Previous driver experience at Iowa shows three former winners in the field in Newgarden (3), Helio Castroneves (1), and Simon Pagenaud (1). Newgarden and Pagenaud won the last two races in 2020. Looking at the box scores from 2020 Race 2 and 2020 Race 1, Newgarden, Pagenaud, and Dixon finished in the Top 5 in both races. If that’s expanded to the Top 10, that duo is joined by Jack Harvey, Alexander Rossi, and Ericsson. The active Top 5 in laps led at the circuit are Newgarden (1,150), Power (131), Dixon (130), Pagenaud (98), and Takuma Sato (59).

My pick to win: Josef Newgarden & Felix Rosenqvist – I mean look at those laps led stats above and how can you not pick Newgarden this weekend? All five race wins by drivers entered in the race this weekend were won with Team Penske. Newgarden is almost certain to win one of these two races. I’m going with a big surprise for the other winner this weekend in Rosenqvist. He’s had some sneaky good results on ovals and has shown a lot more speed in recent events. Oliver Askew and Pato O’Ward had good weekends for Arrow McLaren SP at Iowa a couple years ago so look out for Felix this weekend.

My fantasy.indycar.com picks: Josef Newgarden $30, Felix Rosenqvist $26, Conor Daly $23, & David Malukas $19 – You know my thoughts on Newgarden and Rosenqvist. Daly has a pole at Iowa with Carlin!!! of all teams in 2020 and will bring that knowledge and experience to ECR this year with a team that will be hungry for some good results. Malukas has been very impressive in recent events and won two oval races in Lights last year.

Indy Lights Presented by Cooper Tires Preview: Indy Lights at Mid-Ohio (Entry List) – Sunday, July 3, 2022 10:30AM (ET) Peacock – Linus Lundqvist maintains a big lead in the championship after a fairly mediocre weekend by his standards at Road America but looks to rebound this week at a circuit where he won the season finale last year in Indy Lights. Andretti Autosport’s Kyle Kirkwood swept the other three races at Mid-Ohio last year so watch out for their stable of drivers as always this weekend.

NTT INDYCAR SERIES Preview: Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio – Sunday, July 3, 2022 12:30PM (ET) NBC – The NTT INDYCAR SERIES kicks off July 4th weekend at legendary Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course for what should be an exciting weekend in a close championship race. The Top 5 in the championship are separated by less than 50 points as Marcus Ericsson leads Will Power, Josef Newgarden, Pato O’Ward, and Alex Palou.

Previous driver experience at Mid-Ohio shows eight former winners in the field in Scott Dixon (6), Helio Castroneves (2), Newgarden (2), Graham Rahal (1), Simon Pagenaud (1), Alexander Rossi (1), Power (1), and Colton Herta (1). Newgarden, Herta, and Power are the last three winners at the circuit. Looking at the box scores from 2021, 2020 Race 2 and 2020 Race 1, a few interesting observations can be found. Rossi finished in the Top 5 in all three races. Newgarden, Ericsson, and Rahal each finished in the Top 5 in two of the three races. Rossi, Newgarden, Dixon, and Rahal each finished in the Top 10 of all three races. The active Top 5 in laps led at the circuit are Dixon (261), Power (205), Newgarden (162), Rossi (71), and Herta (66).

My pick to win: Josef Newgarden – The only driver to win multiple races this season heads to a track he’s had plenty of success at and is back in the “lucky” PPG colors. How can you pick against Josef Newgarden at the moment?

My fantasy.indycar.com picks: Josef Newgarden $30, Marcus Ericsson $31, Kyle Kirkwood $19, & Callum Ilott $18  – You know my thoughts on Newgarden. Ericsson’s consistency has been stellar lately and this has been one of his better tracks. Kirkwood owned this track in the Road to Indy and provides good value at $19 if you want to front load your team with difficult pricing. Ilott and JHR have to get the finish their increased speed merits at some point, right?

Indy Lights Presented by Cooper Tires Preview: Indy Lights Grand Prix at Road America (Entry List) – Sunday, June 12, 2022 10:35AM (ET) Peacock – Linus Lundqvist has established a massive lead in the championship after a perfect weekend at the doubleheader in Detroit and will be one of the favorites again this weekend as the series sophomore returns to a track where one of his former teammates David Malukas last year. The other race was won by Andretti Autosport so expect another Andretti/HMD/GRG battle this weekend. My prediction is a win for each Linus Lundqvist and Benjamin Pedersen.

NTT INDYCAR SERIES Preview: Sonsio Grand Prix at Road America – Sunday, June 12, 2022 12:30PM (ET) NBC – Road America is one of the highlights of the year for the NTT INDYCAR SERIES and the stage is set for a great weekend at the historic circuit. A tight championship race and incredibly deep field should make for a classic race on Sunday.

Previous driver experience at Road America shows six former winners in the field in Scott Dixon (2), Josef Newgarden (1), Alex Palou (1), Will Power (1), Felix Rosenqvist (1), and Alexander Rossi. Palou, Rosenqvist, and Dixon are the last three winners at the circuit, all with Chip Ganassi Racing. Looking at the box scores from 2021, 2020 Race 2 and 2020 Race 1, a few interesting observations can be found. Colton Herta finished in the Top 5 in all three races. Power, Palou, and Dixon each finished in the Top 5 in two of the three races. Herta, Pato O’Ward, Palou, Marcus Ericsson, and Takuma Sato each finished in the Top 10 of all three races. The active Top 5 in laps led at the circuit are Newgarden (123), Power (60), Rossi (54), Pato O’Ward (43), and Dixon (43).

My pick to win: Alexander Rossi – Rossi was excellent last weekend leading two practice sessions and recovering from unfortunate circumstances in qualifying to nearly with at Detroit. Fresh off his announcement of heading to Arrow McLaren SP next season and recent strong results at Indy and Detroit, Rossi has a lot of momentum on his side heading to a track he’s had plenty of success at. His Road America win in 2019 was as dominant as we’ve seen in recent years in the NTT INDYCAR SERIES and he might just earn the top step of the podium again this weekend.

My fantasy.indycar.com picks: Alexander Rossi $26, Scott Dixon $29, Scott McLaughlin $26, & David Malukas $19  – You know my thoughts on Rossi. Ganassi has owned this circuit in recent years so Dixon is a must have for me. McLaughlin didn’t qualify well here last year but his teammates did and he’s been much improved in Year 2. Malukas could be a good value choice this weekend as Palou and Grosjean have delivered good finishes in the last three Road America races for Dale Coyne Racing.
