INDY NXT by Firestone Preview: INDY NXT by Firestone Grand Prix at Mid-Ohio (Entry List) – Sunday, July 2, 2023 11:30AM (ET) Peacock – Nolan Siegel has surged to a 40 point lead over Christian Rasmussen in the championship after backing up his first series win at Detroit with another victory at Road America. Hunter McElrea is the defending race winner at Mid-Ohio and it’s certainly time for him to make a charge as he’s 56 points behind heading into the weekend. But it’s been more unpredictable than ever in the series this season so who knows what to expect beyond excitement this weekend.

NTT INDYCAR SERIES Preview: Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio – Sunday, July 2nd, 2023 1:30PM (ET) USA – After a surprisingly quiet week off the NTT INDYCAR SERIES is back this weekend at a fan favorite Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. As of Thursday of race week there’s plenty of rain and potential for storms in the forecast which could create a lot of surprises. Previous driver performance at the circuit shows nine former winners entered in Scott Dixon (6), Helio Castroneves (2), Josef Newgarden (2), Graham Rahal (1), Simon Pagenaud (1), Alexander Rossi (1), Will Power (1), Colton Herta (1), and Scott McLaughlin (1). McLaughlin and Newgarden are the two most recent winners at the circuit. Looking at the box scores from the 2022 and 2021 races at Mid-Ohio, only Alex Palou and Dixon finished in the Top 5 in both races. If that’s expanded to the Top 10, those two are joined by Marcus Ericsson and Newgarden.

My pick to win: Alex Palou – How can you pick against Palou right now? Outside of being torpedoed by Rinus VeeKay in pitlane in Indianapolis he’s been unstoppable with authoritative victories in three of the last four races and a massive 74 point lead in the championship.

My fantasy.indycar.com picks: Alex Palou $32, Marcus Armstrong $24, Kyle Kirkwood $26, & Benjamin Pedersen $18 – Palou has to be picked. Almost regardless of qualifying at this point. Armstrong is due for a great result and this has been an excellent Ganassi track. Kirkwood has shown plenty of speed on road and street courses. Pedersen will be my pick for best of the $18 options heading into the weekend.

Indy Lights Presented by Cooper Tires Preview: Indy Lights at Mid-Ohio (Entry List) – Sunday, July 3, 2022 10:30AM (ET) Peacock – Linus Lundqvist maintains a big lead in the championship after a fairly mediocre weekend by his standards at Road America but looks to rebound this week at a circuit where he won the season finale last year in Indy Lights. Andretti Autosport’s Kyle Kirkwood swept the other three races at Mid-Ohio last year so watch out for their stable of drivers as always this weekend.

NTT INDYCAR SERIES Preview: Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio – Sunday, July 3, 2022 12:30PM (ET) NBC – The NTT INDYCAR SERIES kicks off July 4th weekend at legendary Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course for what should be an exciting weekend in a close championship race. The Top 5 in the championship are separated by less than 50 points as Marcus Ericsson leads Will Power, Josef Newgarden, Pato O’Ward, and Alex Palou.

Previous driver experience at Mid-Ohio shows eight former winners in the field in Scott Dixon (6), Helio Castroneves (2), Newgarden (2), Graham Rahal (1), Simon Pagenaud (1), Alexander Rossi (1), Power (1), and Colton Herta (1). Newgarden, Herta, and Power are the last three winners at the circuit. Looking at the box scores from 2021, 2020 Race 2 and 2020 Race 1, a few interesting observations can be found. Rossi finished in the Top 5 in all three races. Newgarden, Ericsson, and Rahal each finished in the Top 5 in two of the three races. Rossi, Newgarden, Dixon, and Rahal each finished in the Top 10 of all three races. The active Top 5 in laps led at the circuit are Dixon (261), Power (205), Newgarden (162), Rossi (71), and Herta (66).

My pick to win: Josef Newgarden – The only driver to win multiple races this season heads to a track he’s had plenty of success at and is back in the “lucky” PPG colors. How can you pick against Josef Newgarden at the moment?

My fantasy.indycar.com picks: Josef Newgarden $30, Marcus Ericsson $31, Kyle Kirkwood $19, & Callum Ilott $18  – You know my thoughts on Newgarden. Ericsson’s consistency has been stellar lately and this has been one of his better tracks. Kirkwood owned this track in the Road to Indy and provides good value at $19 if you want to front load your team with difficult pricing. Ilott and JHR have to get the finish their increased speed merits at some point, right?

Andretti Autosport has won the last four Lights races at Mid-Ohio so watch out for Kyle Kirkwood in particular this weekend. His teammates Danial Frost and Robert Megennis showed great pace in qualifying (Frost) and the races (Megennis) last time out at Road America.

NTT INDYCAR SERIES Preview: Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio at Mid-Ohio – Sunday, July 4, 2021 12:00PM (ET) NBC – Two full-time drivers return to their rides this weekend after being sidelined by injuries in Felix Rosenqvist and Rinus VeeKay. Ryan Norman will make his NTT INDYCAR SERIES debut in the Dale Coyne Racing with Rick Ware Racing No. 52 that Cody Ware drove to a respectable result at Road America.

Previous driver experience at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course shows seven former winners in the field in Scott Dixon (6), Colton Herta (1), Josef Newgarden (1), Simon Pagenaud (1), Will Power (1), Graham Rahal (1), and Alexander Rossi (1). Power and Herta won the two races in the doubleheader in September last year. Looking at the box scores from 2020 Race 1 and Race 2, Rossi, Hunter-Reay, and Rahal in each finished in the Top 5 in both races. If that’s expanded to the Top 10, that trio is joined by Herta, Power, Newgarden, and Dixon. The active Top 5 in laps led at Mid-Ohio are Dixon (261), Power (205), Newgarden (89), Rossi (71), and Herta (61).

My pick to win: Race: Alex Palou – Why can’t Palou win two in a row and become the first three time winner this season? It almost seems silly to pick against him on a road course at this point. We all know about Ganassi’s success at Mid-Ohio as Dixon has dominated this event so many times in the past but Palou just seems to have “it” so far this season.

My fantasy.indycar.com picks: Alex Palou, Ryan Hunter-Reay, Alexander Rossi, & Scott McLaughlin – You know my thoughts on Palou. Hunter-Reay and Rossi each had Top 5’s in each race of the doubleheader here last year and are well past for both a good showing and better result. The Andretti team was strong last year with Herta grabbing a win so this would seem like a logical time for them to deliver. McLaughlin should be a solid budget pick this weekend as the Team Penske cars have had plenty of luck at Mid-Ohio over the years. It wouldn’t be surprising to see a Top 5 or podium from McLaughlin this weekend.

NTT INDYCAR SERIES Preview: Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio – Race 1 Saturday, September 12, 2020 4:30PM (ET) NBCSN & Race 2 Sunday, September 13, 2020 1:00PM (ET) NBC – The NTT INDYCAR SERIES enters another doubleheader weekend with fans in attendance at the beautiful Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. Just five events remain on the (current) NTT INDYCAR SERIES schedule so if anyone is going to catch championship leader Scott Dixon the time is now, at what just happens to be Dixon’s best circuit…

Previous driver experience at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course shows six former winners in the field in Scott Dixon (6), Charlie Kimball (1), Josef Newgarden (1), Simon Pagenaud (1), Graham Rahal (1), and Alexander Rossi (1). The active Top 5 in laps led at the venue are Dixon (261), Will Power (139), Newgarden (89), Power (99), Rossi (66), and Pagenaud (37). The two most recent winners are Dixon and Rossi. Looking at the box scores from 2019 and 2018, only Dixon, Power, and Rossi have finished in the Top 5 in each of the last two races. If that’s expanded to the Top 10, that trio is joined by Ryan Hunter-Reay, Pagenaud, and Rahal.

My picks to win: Will Power & Alexander Rossi – It just seems to easy and obvious to go with Dixon and Newgarden this week, as likely as it probably is. I’m calling for a redemption storyline and for Power and Rossi to grab their first wins of the season after just rotten luck all year. Power especially has been fast all year but has experienced bad luck numerous times from winning positions. Rossi’s luck has been worse in that he’s barely been able to start races at times. That changes this weekend.

My fantasy.indycar.com picks: Felix Rosenqvist, Alexander Rossi, Colton Herta, & Alex Palou – Rosenqvist nearly won this race last year in a dramatic final lap duel with teammate Dixon and has continued to show speed on road courses all year long. Rossi, and Andretti as a whole, have been strong at Mid-Ohio and are due for a good race. This is a place where Rossi and the team can get a win. Based on that, I want the most consistent Andretti driver, Herta, in my lineup this week. Palou tested here last year and has had this race circled all year. Based on his impressive speed at said test, and what he’s show on road courses this year, this pick has tremendous value at just $20 this week.
